ELATIONshawl

ELATION is all I would hope for in an easy knitting project: super squishy mohair Garter stitch that guarantees a mindless knit, a gradient that makes the knitting process fun and exciting and no purl stitches at all.
This shawl is not only a stunning statement piece but also a perfect project for a beginner knitter or someone who wants to switch knitting styles. You can practice your knit stitch and / or working with an even tension.
ELATION also is a great canvas for you to play with. You can either use the suggested yarn that creates a lovely gradient by itself or follow the instructions to create your own personal gradient made from as many colors as you like. In addition the length of ELATION can be adjusted very easily to your own preferences.

Two pieces of fabric with measurements on the side.

SIZES

One size: With a maximum depth in the center before the ruffle of 33.5cm / 13" and a length of the bottom edge before ruffle of 227.5cm / 89.5"

A ball of yarn with knitting needles stuck in it.

YARN

2 cakes of Rico Design Essentials Super Kid Mohair Loves Silk Colourlove (100g, 265m / 290 yards; 72% mohair, 28% silk) in colorway 4843N (pink)
For the sample shown I used two entire cakes - no scraps left. If you would like to make a shawl that is larger, I'd recommend buying a third cake.

An abtracted illustration of a gauge swatch.

GAUGE

16 sts and 36 rows = 10cm / 4" in Garter stitch. Measured after washing without stretching the fabric.
For this project an exact gauge is not crucial; you will still get a lovely shawlwhen your gauge is a few stitches or rows off. Yet gauge swatching is still recommended.

Two knitting needles lying on top of each other.

NEEDLES

4mm (or size to obtain gauge with)

A scissor and a stitch holder.

TOOLS

A tapestry needle for weaving in the ends

A piece of knitting fabric still on one needle
